Tower of Granarolo, from Rivarolo

    Access
From the Rivarolo district, go up via Vezzani, Wagner and Linneo in sequence, and from Teglia via Maritano. In any case, once you reach the ridge, near the church, leave your car.
Introduction
From the S. Giovanni Battista della Costa church to the Begato fort and the Granarolo tower. A city route, but still quite secluded apart from the central section, which, being close to the Genoese forts, is always very busy.
Description
Take Via Cambiaso and immediately afterwards Via Alla costa di Begato. Further on, take a path to the right that enters a chestnut forest. Almost at Begato, instead of going uphill you descend to the right and, with a few metres of asphalt, you arrive at the square where the bus terminates. Go downhill and shortly afterwards turn into Via Begato and the stream is crossed by a bridge. In 20' you leave the carriageable road and turn left onto a path. With a series of zeta's you easily recover metres until you cross the track leading to Sampierdarena. One goes left until reaching a gate. Do not go past it, climbing up on asphalt towards Fort Begato; then from a barrier continue on tracks that flank the walls of the structure for a good stretch. From a small tunnel, we deviate, changing slope and ending up on the road, with a nice view of the Oregina area. One descends the Granarolo climb and on to the Begato fortress. At a crossroads, one chooses on the right via Piano di Fregoso. A little further on on the left is the Granarolo tower. Afterwards you continue along via piani di Fregoso and then via Begato, which leads back to the terminus of the 272. For the return to the car, we prefer the asphalt road until we reach the church of San Giovanni Battista at Costa di Begato.
