Access

You drive up the valley of the Great St. Bernard to Saint-Oyen, and as soon as you enter the village, take the road that descends to the left (signs for camping) until you come to a bar, in front of which there is a large car park.

Introduction

Non-high and easily accessible peak located at the beginning of the watershed between the valley of the Flassin stream and the Comba del Citrin. Despite its high altitude, it represents an excellent panoramic viewpoint over the valley of the Gran San Bernardo, with a beautiful view also of the Grand Jorasses and Mont Blanc.

Description

Take the road that climbs to the right of the bar, which at first is asphalted and then becomes a dirt road up the valley of the Flassin stream. One ascends the valley along the road until, after a hairpin bend to the left, a marker indicates the start of the path, which leads one to reverse direction and cross the course of a dry stream. The trail then begins to climb along the eastern slope of the Tete du Bois de Quart, first with a long flat traverse and then gaining height with a series of switchbacks. You pass a small meadowy area where the path gets lost but the way is indicated by a series of arrows on the boulders; after a short while the path becomes evident again and leads shortly to the panoramic summit of the Tete du Bois de Quart (wooden summit cross). For the return journey, as well as following the outward route, it is possible to complete the route of path 7A, taking the same at an arrow on a boulder and following it along the slopes of Testa Cordella to the alpe di Tsa de Flassin, where the same dirt road begins, which is followed down into the valley.
