Refuge Questa, from Terme di Valdieri

Introduction

A really interesting place from a naturalistic point of view, given the considerable presence of chamois and ibexes, but also the real possibility of sightings of eagles and lammergeyers. In terms of views, it is one of the most beautiful areas of the park, with the Valasco torrent, lakes and picturesque military roads. 

Description

From Terme di Valdieri we follow the dirt road that climbs up into the Vallone del Valasco. When we reach the grassy plateau, before the former Royal Hunting Lodge (1763m), one of the most characteristic views of the Maritime Alps opens up before our eyes. Continuing along the road we climb further and follow the military road up to the Lago Inferiore di Valscura (2274m). From here, our itinerary continues on the military road until we reach the Lago del Claus (2344m) and continues on to the short access path to the Questa hut (2388m) on the northern shore of Lago delle Portette. From the hut, we descend in a short time on the military road to Lake Valscura and from there we return to the Piano del Valasco.
