Sea walk from Voltri to Arenzano
Access
By car or train, you arrive in the Voltri district of Genoa.
Introduction
A useful tour when the weather is less than reassuring and you still feel like getting around. A stop is a must for Priano's special focaccia, excellent but different from the typical Genoese (Via Camozzini, 76/R). Along the way, you will come across some fountains and rest areas.
Description
Leaving Voltri, one crosses the Belvedere Gente di Mare. A plaque commemorates Rinaldo Enrico (during the shipwreck of the merchant ship London Valour, which occurred at the mouth of the port of Genoa on 9 April 1970, he took enormous risks to save human lives, in a disaster that nevertheless cost 20 lives). In 35', there is Punta Nave (renovated by Renzo Piano). From Vesima, you pass two bars, almost directly on the sea. Later (20'), the statue of the Madonna dell'Aguggia stands out. Previously, the rock was another and the sacred artefact had been in situ since 1850. The current one (2006) is a replacement, because the sea storms swept everything away. In 35' you arrive in the centre of Arenzano (tot. 1h30 for about 6 km). We wander around a bit (another couple of km) and the destination is the Bambin Gesù di Praga, with a nice, large picnic area (bar/restaurant for a coffee, drinking fountain, public toilets...). For the return to Voltri, there are trains one every hour or so.
In summary. Dif. T - displ. 0 m - 6 km - about 1h30. Ride comfort: very good.
