Introduction

Mount Santa Croce is a relief in the Ligurian Apennines located above Bogliasco, a classic destination for the Genoese, with a panorama that sweeps from the Portofino Promontory to the Savona Riviera.

Description

After leaving the private vehicle, in 10', you are in the hamlet. You go up the obvious church, but after 15 minutes, there is a crossroads and you turn right towards Pieve. In 20 minutes you cross the Direttissima and climb up, zigzagging... always a steep ascent ... In 25', you are at the church of Santa Croce (518 m - total time 1h30). The tower is... falling down... and the church is closed... because of the bad weather last autumn! It's early, but we make the stop anyway. A lot of people arrive later, but we leave again. We choose a longer way back: we take the FIE path that climbs up towards the interior until it crosses the one that descends from the Fasce road (thanks to the Golfo Paradiso Association, which cleans the tracks in the area...). Here, we turn back (35'), walking on a beautiful paved road, and in 10', from a fork in the road, we opt for the less beaten path that bends to the right. You continue to lose altitude and, after 45', come out on the access road to San Bernardo... Just below awaits the car (tot. ret. 1h30).
All in all: fair weather, better than forecast. Diff. T/E, 300 m disl 3h tot Average walking time: more than enough.

NB: In the event of an excursion, always check with FIE, Cai, any park authorities or other institutions, pro loco, etc., that there have been no changes that have increased the difficulties! No liability is accepted. This text is purely indicative and not exhaustive.
