Corna Grande and Campelli circuit (sentiero degli Stradini), from Barzio
Access
From Milan, take the 36 motorway to Lecco, from where you turn right for Valsassina.
You pass the Balisio pass and after a few hundred metres turn right for Barzio and, following the signs for the cable car, you reach the large car park.
Introduction
This is the last peak of the beautiful Zuccone Campelli dolomite complex, which can be reached, via the Mugoff pass, from both Bobbio and Artavaggio. Mugoff is a dialectal form (plural) to indicate the Mugo pine, which, together with the Cembro pine or Cirmolo, is the tree that best withstands the alpine heights.
Description
From the car park (signposts for the Bobbio plans), follow the dirt track that leads to the plans in just over an hour and a half in an environment devastated by the ski slopes.
Alternatively, this stretch can be overcome in a few minutes by cable car.
From the plans, leaving on the right the ravages that lead to the Lecco refuge and the beautiful dolomite amphitheatre of Zuccone Campelli, one enters the mugoff valley on the left and heads for the little mouth of the same name, skirting the grassy slopes of zucco Barbisino.
There are two paths that lead to the pass, the summer one that goes under the Barbisino and the winter one on the side of the corna Grande.
Beautiful environment dominated by dolomite towers on the ridge between the corna and the Barbisino.
At the pass, a post indicates the 2010 m cookout.
Following red bolts, head N, along small rocks and steep grassy stretches to reach the ridge which becomes wider but steeper at the top until the little cairn of the summit.
Under the summit a small crater and wire nets, the bolts continue to a cross with a beautiful view of Valtorta.
In the background Disgrazia and Bernina, a stone's throw away the Pizzo dei Tre Signori and la Cornetta.
We return to the pass to pass on the side of Artavaggio.
The well-marked path, equipped with a few chains, leads to a junction, left to the Cazzaniga refuge, right to the "Sentiero degli Stradini".
This path is a quiet ledge, on the S face of the Zuccone Campelli, equipped with chains and steps, under the famous Cresta Ongania, which leads to the Bocchetta di Pesciola, from which you return to the Lecco refuge and the arrival of the cable car.
