Access

At the Ospitaletto exit of the A4 motorway, follow the local signs for Valle Camonica following the SP19 and the SP510. Near Pian Camuno, go up the valley on the SS42 del Tonale e della Mendola road to Edolo, turn right towards Passo del Tonale, pass Incudine, Vezza d'Oglio, Temù and head towards Pontedilegno. Leave the SS42 at the exit for Pontedilegno Centro then turn left, passing under the state road you have just taken, and park near the Valbione chairlift departure station (1255 m).

Note Pontedilegno can also be reached from Valtellina - via the Aprica Pass (SS39) and the Gavia Pass (SS300) - or from Trentino - going up the Val di Sole and the Val Vermiglio Pass via the Tonale Pass (SS42).

Introduction

The Conca di Pozzuolo is located on a beautiful panoramic balcony in the debris valley north of the Cima di Salimmo. The route takes place in the Valle Seria next to the beautiful golf course, proceeds over grassy slopes and ends on a path and a military dirt track.

Description

With the Valbione chairlift, in about 0h03', you can reach the mountain station (1512 m) near the lake for recreational fishing (as an alternative, you can take the dirt road - about 3 km - that goes up the coniferous forest or follow the path, signposted Pathway signpost No. 41, which, keeping close to the Acquaseria torrent, climbs more directly). Now go around the small lake either to the left, following the dirt road, or to the right, following the western bank until you cross the road again, pathway signpost Pathway signpost No. 40. The village of Valbione is reached on the level. The carriage road proceeds to the right of the golf course, on the orographic left, crossing grassy plains and coniferous groves to the bottom of the Valle Seria, under the rocks that support the terrace of the Conca di Pozzuolo. On a path, cross the stream and ascend a grassy slope to the left with a long diagonal followed by another to the right. Continuing among alders, the path crosses the stream again and with one last climb, we reach a small waterfall and the Conca di Pozzuolo plateau (2020 m, 1h 25'). The panorama stretches from the Cima di Salimmo in the south to the Corno d'Aola in the east. Nearby, there are also some characteristic constructions.

We suggest returning by a circular route taking the Sentiero Grande Guerra", signpost Segnavia n° 40, carved between the rocky spurs that descend from Corno d'Aola. Almost flat and always comfortable, the path offers some information boards of the "Parco Regionale dell'Adamello" on the "Guerra Bianca in Adamello" concerning "The Supplies", "The Vestiario", "The defensive lines of the Alta Val Camonica" and "The fortress: a luxury accommodation". Continuing along the hillside, one reaches the mountain station of the Corno d'Aola chairlift, at the "Rifugio A. Petitpierre al Corno d'Aola" (1920 m, 0h25'). The viewpoint on the right of the refuge offers a splendid view of the Tonale Pass. On the left, between the refuge and a small church, the military dirt road starts, signposted Segnavia n° 47, which, descending into the woods with a series of hairpin bends, leads to the arrival of the Valbione chairlift (1512 m, 1h25').
