Anacapri with the Scala Fenicia, from Marina Grande

Access
Leave the ship or hydrofoil at the port of Marina Grande and continue on foot, following the signs for the Scala Fenicia, which is a short distance from the seaport. No transport is necessary: the start of the route can be reached on foot in a few minutes from the port.
Introduction
The Scala Fenicia represents one of the most evocative and historically significant routes on the island of Capri. Once the only link between Marina Grande and the "high" town of Anacapri, this long flight of steps carved into the rock bears witness to the daily toil of those who, for centuries, travelled it to transport water, goods and materials. Today it constitutes not only an excursion itinerary, but also a true open-air monument, combining landscape, archaeology and historical memory.
Description
From the port of Marina Grande, take the narrow road that leads to the attack of the Scala Fenicia, at the foot of the rocky ridge. The flight of steps, consisting of 921 stone steps, climbs steadily and steeply, alternating between sections sunk into the rock and small hairpin bends that facilitate the ascent. Always proceed along the main path, following the regular sequence of steps that wind along the flank of Monte Solaro, with panoramic stretches opening up views of the port, the Gulf of Naples and the Sorrento peninsula.
The route requires a moderate but continuous physical effort: the climb does not present any technical difficulties, but the slope and length of the steps impose a regular pace and breaks to enjoy the panorama. Having reached the top, the staircase ends near Villa San Michele, from which it takes a few minutes to enter the centre of Anacapri.
The return is along the same route.
