Introduction

Description

The Plitvice Lakes complex, proclaimed a park in 1949, is among the most beautiful natural creations in the world. Sixteen beautiful, crystal-clear blue-green lakes and ponds follow one another in the valley situated between high wooded mountains. Numerous streams and brooks supply water to the lakes, which are joined together by bubbling waterfalls and noisy cascades. Due to their unique development and beauty, the Plitvice Lakes were entered on the UNESCO World Heritage Register in 1979. The magnificent beauty of the lakes and waterfalls, the richness of the flora and fauna, the contrasting colours, the forests and the pure mountain air attract many visitors from all parts of the world. The system of footpaths and bridges combined with an electric boat and scenic vehicles reveals beautiful emotional lake landscapes that make a visit unforgettable, while the surrounding hotels offer a pleasant stay.
