The Alpe Scaredi bivouac, located in the municipality of Malesco, is an ideal stop for hikers exploring the Alta Val Grande. It is strategically positioned as the 'eastern gateway' to the valley, making this bivouac a privileged access point for those wishing to explore the surrounding mountains, with panoramic views as far as Monte Rosa.

Description

The bivouac offers 10-12 beds on planking inside the main structure, with the possibility of accommodating a further 15 people in the adjoining stall. Outside there is a fountain with drinking water, ideal for refuelling before or after the hike. As far as services are concerned, the bivouac is equipped with a wood stove for heating and an electric lighting system powered by solar panels.
Nearby, one can visit places of interest such as the Terza Chapel, located a few minutes' walk along the path leading to Alpe Straolgio. For mountain enthusiasts, the bivouac is an excellent starting point for ascents to local peaks such as Laurasca, Cimone di Straolgio and Cimone di Cortechiuso.
The bivouac is accessed via a wide, well-marked mule track, which can be walked in about two hours from Val Loana.
