Introduction

The Aldo Frattini Bivouac, located in the municipality of Valbondione, in the province of Bergamo, is a small structure measuring approximately 3.5 x 2.5 metres, made of metal. It stands at a strategic height on the ridge that separates Valsecca from the Piani del Campo valley, a short distance from the Valsecca Pass. This bivouac was built by the Bergamo CAI and offers shelter to hikers and mountaineers venturing into these mountain areas.

Description

The structure is anchored to the ground with wooden planks and steel rods, and further secured by ropes on the sides, guaranteeing stability even in the most adverse weather conditions. Inside, the bivouac offers basic but cosy accommodation: it has nine folding cots, a table, three stools and a gas cooker connected to a cylinder, for cooking simple meals. There is also a small pantry with basic foodstuffs, a first aid kit and some medicines.
The use of the bivouac is free, but it is recommended that all who use it take care of it and leave everything in order for subsequent hikers. After use, a fee is charged to the CAI, proportional to the use made of the bivouac and its resources. This bivouac is a fundamental point of reference for those exploring the mountains around Valbondione and represents a valuable support for those tackling long hikes at high altitude.
