On 18 April 1925, in Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer, Marcus Schmuck, an Austrian mountaineer who led the Austrian expedition to the Karakoram, which, on 9 June 1957, reached the summit of Broad Peak (8,051 m) for the first time.
